ICC Installation, Service and Use with the SRR
PRODUCT: ICC Controllers
SUBJECT: Installation, Service, Use with SRR Remote Control
The ICC can be "customized" for the needs of each individual project (from 8-32 stations in the plastic cabinet; from 8-48 stations in the metal cabinet). The controller comes ready to use as an 8-station base unit and, with the addition of 4-station or 8-station modules, a plastic cabinet ICC can become one of seven different-sized controllers, while one ICC in a metal cabinet offers the option of eleven different sizes.
With the ICC's modular design, inventory management is easy and inventory investment is low. There are fewer units to carry and less shelf space requirements, yet the ICC offers more possible controller configurations, thus, the "right controller" is always in stock.
Installing and Activating Station Modules in the ICC Controller
Installing additional station modules is not only fast, it's easy. But, in order to have the controller work properly, the modules must be installed correctly:
- Turn off the AC power to the controller and disconnect the battery.
- Open the faceplate door, and insert the additional module(s). If installing a 4-station module, be sure to install it in the last sequential position.
- After all modules have been snapped into place, turn the AC power to the controller back on and reconnect the battery. This allows the controller to recognize installation of the new module(s).
Note: each module has a place for connection of a field common wire. For systems with a single common, you only need to connect the common to any single common terminal.
Don't worry about losing previously programmed information during this power outage. The ICC controller has non-volatile memory, which means the entire watering program will be retained (even without a battery).
Service and Warranty
The modular design of the ICC isolates power surges and simplifies service. Unlike other controllers, there's typically no need to remove and replace the entire unit in order to address damage caused from strong surges. The ICC has built-in Metal-Oxide Varistors (MOVs) to protect the microcircuitry against electrical surges caused by storms, power fluctuations, etc. Should a strong primary or secondary power surge hit the controller, simply replace the one damaged module.
For warranty items, return the one module to the distributor. There is no longer a need to remove the entire controller.
Remote Control Compatible
All ICC (and SRC and Pro-C) controllers are now shipped with a SmartPort wiring harness, allowing for fast and easy use of the Hunter SRR remote control. The SRR makes it possible for contractors and end users alike to operate a system without having to walk back and forth to the controller.
Whether or not the remote control will be permanently installed at a job site, be sure to install the SmartPort wiring harness next to the controller. This way, it will be possible to utilize a remote during system installation and save a great deal of time (while also helping to increase job profits). Later, convenience and job profits can be further increased by selling an SRR remote to the owner or end user.
