Proper Installation of the New ICR Long Range Remote
If you already have a Hunter ICC, Pro-C or SRC, then you already have a SmartPort. The device is included with the purchase of any one of the above controllers. The only question is: have you installed the SmartPort? If, for some reason you have one of these controllers and have not installed SmartPort and can’t locate your SmartPort, no need to worry. SmartPort also comes in every “kit” version of the SRR remote control, and, of course, the new ICR remote control. SmartPort, which enables your Hunter controller to use any one of these handy accessories, features a weather resistant cap and gasket that protects the “connection” area from all environmental conditions when an SRR or ICR is not attached. To install SmartPort, connect the red, white and blue lead wires to the terminal as pictured at right: red to the first “AC” terminal, white to the second “AC” terminal and blue to the “REM” terminal (on the SRC, attach the blue to the “R” terminal). Should you have a site where the wiring harness is not installed close to the controller and are experiencing radio interference problems, there is a simple solution. Hunter also offers a special wiring harness (SRR-SCWH) that includes 25 feet of color-coded shielded cable, for use in installing the remote connection port on either an SRR or an ICR away from the controller. Simply replace the wiring harness included with your Hunter controller and install SRR-SCWH. On a site that presents difficulties in communications, you may need to adjust the positioning of the cable in order to get the best orientation (similar to adjusting the antenna on a radio or finding “a good spot” for making a cellular phone call). |
