The Rugged Institutional Spray Saves Water (And That Saves You Money)From top to bottom, the Hunter Institutional Spray combines exceptional strength with a complete range of innovative features, making the head just the solution for high traffic area installations where water savings are a top priority. Hunter’s Institutional Spray has provided the industry with a spray head built specifically for high pressure operation. A pressure regulator built into the stem maintains a constant pressure of 30 PSI with inlet pressures ranging up to 100 PSI, regardless of the nozzle installed. The regulator allows nozzle performance to be at maximum efficiency no matter what the inlet pressure, which results in a substantial savings of water.
Also maximizing the spray head’s performance is a UV-resistant, co-molded wiper seal. Co-molding means that the softer part of the seal is bonded into the stiffer part to provide more structure and stability. This process results in reduced seal “flow-by” (excessive leakage of water past the seal during pop-up of the riser) at system startup, so the system’s hydraulic capacity is used for sprinkler operation. In addition, body and cap leaks are prevented, maintenance costs are reduced due to a longer seal life, and there is less chance of riser “stick-ups” (even in difficult sandy soils). The Institutional Spray’s heavy-duty spring, the most powerful retraction spring in its class, ensures positive retraction under almost any conditions and also makes riser stick-ups a thing of the past. The Institutional Spray’s optional drain check valve helps to save water, too…as well as eliminates liability issues associated with low head drainage. Able to handle up to 14 feet of elevation change, the check valve does away with leaks and puddles at the lower heads, protecting landscapes from damage and erosion while reducing water waste. Check valves can either be factory- or field-installed. Along with all these water-efficient features, the Institutional Spray also boasts an innovative "pull-ring" flush plug for controlled directional flushing, a ratcheting riser stem for quick arc alignment while the sprinkler is in operation, and heavy-duty body and cap construction. The Institutional Spray has been built using an exceptionally tough ABS plastic considered to be the premier type of material for spray heads due to its strength. How about one more great feature? Just like all other Hunter Institutional Series irrigation products, it carries an unsurpassed 5-year warranty. The Institutional Spray—it’s the ultimate in water-saving spray head design and function for residential and commercial landscape and turf applications from a name you can trust.
