Ultra Special Enhancements Make I-20 Ultra Rotor Ultra Appealing to ContractorsThere is no mistaking the invention of the telephone changed the face of communication. But just imagine if today we were still using the same old-fashioned device Alexander Graham Bell used when he said the immortal words: "Watson. Come here. I need you."
No, irrigation, like communication, is a field where technology continues to take products that are considered to be state of the art and enhance them. The Hunter I-20 rotor is a case in point. Already viewed as a superior product, the rotor has long been the popular choice as an upgrade option over typical residential rotors. Now the sprinkler, which has experienced the continuous refinement that all Hunter products undergo, has been made even better and transformed into the I-20 Ultra. It's Better Than Good, It's "Ultra" Good The already superior I-20 has been modified with product enhancements making the rotor better than ever. Now called I-20 Ultra, it offers such added features as keyed nozzles for easier installation and the ability to stop the flow of water through a single head while the rest of the system is running. A Bargain and a SteelAs an upgrade, the I-20 Ultra serves both the customer and the contractor, providing better product for the former and bigger profit for the latter. The upgrade will cost the contractor very little on an average site, yet offers enough benefits to the customer to justify a sizeable add-on cost. The I-20 Ultra features a rugged, commercial-grade design and a built-in check valve that saves water - enough water that, over the life of the product, could alone make up for higher installation costs. And that's just on the standard plastic model. If your landscape sees exceptional wear and tear, the I-20 Ultra provides the option of an extra heavy duty alternative that protects both the sprinkler riser and seal. "The stainless steel sleeve makes the I-20 Ultra one of the strongest residential rotors on the market," said Will Anderson of Sun Valley Landscape in Mesa, Arizona. "We always recommended I-20 stainless to our customers with sandy soils; now, with improvements to the product making it even better, we feel the new stainless Ultra is a real bargain - the best product for the money we can offer." "We use mostly plastic I-20s because they've been proven rugged enough for us," said Roy Morris, Grounds Coordinator for the Kyrene School District in Tempe, Arizona. "But, in those areas where we need something even stronger, we'll use stainless steel, and that will add even more years to the I-20 Ultra's lifetime." A "Key" ImprovementOne feature that has always set Hunter rotors apart from the competition was the quality of their nozzles. Honest performance, uniform distribution and unequaled close-in coverage made them the envy of the competition. Now the I-20 nozzles boast something more - keyed nozzles to provide better orientation. "There's only one thing better than having the best nozzle available for your sprinklers," said Terry Fiddelke of Irrigation Design Associates in Sarasota, Florida, "and that's making that nozzle extremely easy to install. With keyed nozzles, installation on the I-20 Ultra is easier than ever." Steve Grimes of R & S Lawn Service in Pleasanton, California noted that the wide range of nozzle options is another contributor to making the product easy to use. "The I-20 Ultra offers a choice of 8 standard and 4 low-angle nozzles...on the same rack. That covers just about any landscape situation that I might be faced with." Go with the FloPerhaps the biggest change to the I-20 is the addition of an innovative new feature that provides contractors with the convenience of easily stopping water flow through a single head without turning off the entire system. Called FloStop, it allows them to perform maintenance, make adjustments, change nozzles, or keep selected portions of the landscape dry during watering. "It's never been so easy to control the function of individual sprinklers within a whole system," said Lance Folse of North Texas Lush Lawn, Inc. a Denton, Texas company whose specialty is high-end residential properties. "FloStop makes it possible to turn the flow of water off to a single sprinkler while everything else is running. Servicing heads in the field has never been so easy!" More, More, MoreTo some contractors, the addition of FloStop alone would make the I-20 Ultra outstanding, but many will agree that it's the combination of numerous other great features that places the rotor head and shoulders above all others in its class. Cliff Wilcox of Camellia City Landscape Management services the grounds - all 67 acres - of the Capital Christian Center in Sacramento. He's got plenty of I-20 Ultras on that acreage and sounds almost brochure-like when he talks of his fondness for the rotor. "What do I like about the I-20 Ultra? How about a rubber cover that stays put and keeps play areas safe. How about easy arc adjustment (40-360º) right at the top of the sprinkler. How about retraction I can rely on from a commercial-grade spring. How about a drain check valve, good for up to 10 feet of elevation change, that saves water and reduces liability. Plus a full five-year warranty!" Whether the decision to upgrade is one of need or of want, if your customers are looking to step beyond the typical residential grade rotor with a product that's sure to endure, your choice of sprinkler is easy. In fact, it's Ultra easy. |
