Hunter Introduces New Family of Brass Quick Coupling Valves and Keys Compatible Across Brands

Hunter Industries has introduced a new line of quick coupling valves that offer easy cross-compatibility with other brands. The new HQ line of quick couplers and keys has been uniquely engineered to work in tandem with—or replace—the popular brands that have been installed at most sites over the years.

“Hunter’s HQ quick coupling valves are rugged, high-value products designed specifically for all projects that require quick water access while maintaining in-ground durability and vandal resistance,” said Rich Dunn, Hunter product manager. “And we offer a range of models that are 100 percent interchangeable with the Rain Bird®, Toro®, and Buckner® quick couplers that so many sites already have.

“That means you are no longer ‘stuck’ using one of those brands, simply because that’s what you currently have in the ground. Hunter keys can operate the new HQ line as well as those of the major competitors, so it is now possible to switch to Hunter without retrofitting every existing quick coupling valve you’ve installed.

“With HQ, you’ll not only get the quality and convenience of a complete Hunter system, you’ll also get a quick coupling valve that is a superior product.”

Constructed of heavy-duty red brass and stainless steel, all Hunter quick coupling valves feature TuffTop™ thermoplastic, spring-loaded, locking or non-locking lids, which provide safety and durability for years of use.

The HQ line also includes several models that feature Hunter’s unique WingThing™ anti-rotation stabilizer and Acme key connection, providing added vandal resistance and operational durability. These Acme models facilitate adjustable flow control.

One-piece and two-piece models are available with 3/4” and 1” NPT, or 1” BSP inlet threads. The optional two-piece body design allows field maintenance of the valve without depressurizing the irrigation system. All locking lid models have purple TuffTop lids making them suitable for use on reclaimed water projects.

In addition to the HQ models, the Hunter quick coupler line also includes the HK coupler key and HS hose swivel models. The HK is available in 3/4”, 1”, and 1 1/4” inlet versions; the latter two sizes offer a non-wearing, stainless steel lug for easy engagement and smooth operation. The HS is available in a variety of 3/4” and 1” configurations to accommodate female NPT inlet threads, and male hose or male BSP outlet threads.
