Hunter ACC Decoder Controller: The “Irrigation Innovators” Take Decoder Technology to The Next Level

As a separate model within Hunter’s all-new ACC modular controller family, the ACC Decoder Controller takes two-wire path decoder technology to a new level of convenience and affordability.

Hunter’s innovative approach is to use its all-new standard ACC controller as the interface, allowing contractors to install decoder systems without having to learn an entirely new operating system.

Available under the model number ACC-99D, Hunter’s ACC Decoder Controller also includes two-way decoder line communication, which provides the ability for the controller to emit a confirmation signal that the decoder has been activated.

“This great new addition to our recently introduced ACC family of controllers provides a practical and cost-effective solution for installers who are moving toward decoder-based irrigation systems for large projects,” said Richard E. One key advantage of decoder technology versus conventional systems is that decoder systems use less wire for an overall irrigation system. That, in turn, means lower cost (wire contains costly copper) as well as quicker installation times and easier system diagnosis and repair if needed. Systems can be easily expanded by simply adding more decoders, thereby avoiding the expense and labor of running additional wires.

Specific customer benefits of the Hunter ACC-99D include:

• Total system design flexibility: With up to a 99-station capacity, the ACC-99D offers an efficient and cost-effective solution to irrigation systems.
• Easy expansion: Installers can easily expand existing systems with minimal digging and disruption of existing landscaping.
• Effective lightning and surge protection: Each decoder can be equipped with integral grounding to protect the system from power surges or lightning strikes (common in areas such as Florida) without the use of costly external surge suppression modules.
• Two-way decoder line communication: All station activations are confirmed back to the controller, and distant sensors can be monitored over the two-wire path with the ICD-SEN sensor decoder.
• Instant system status: Diagnostic displays and LEDs on output module show line activity and decoder status.
• Easy decoder identification: New, expanded line of decoders includes 1-, 2-, 4-, and 6-station units, plus the sensor decoder, all in compact, waterproof enclosures with color-coded wiring connections and integrated earth ground wire.

Market availability of Hunter’s new ACC Decoder Controller will begin in early 2006.
