From the CEO – A Message from Richard Hunter, November 1998

When our company first opened its doors in 1981, we had a goal to produce the very best rotary sprinkler that money could buy.

The overwhelming success and quality reputation that the PGP sprinkler has attained worldwide is solid proof that we have achieved our original goal and then some.

Now, as the millennium creeps closer and Hunter Industries reaches nearly two decades in business, we have established yet another goal for ourselves - to be the number one supplier of all irrigation products to the professional irrigation industry.

And, by number one, we don't necessarily mean the biggest...simply the most important.

We want Hunter to be number one for all of our important market segments - the designer, the contractor and the distributor. That means making the Hunter name the first one they think of when quality irrigation products come to mind.

To accomplish this goal, we are providing new and inventive products for the industry in a timely fashion while also striving to further enhance the offerings that attracted you to many of our tried and true products in the first place.

A prime example of our dedication to developing new technology is the ICV valve. Our latest success story is the result of extensive research beyond the parameters of our engineering department - gathering input from installers, designers, distributors and other industry experts to find out what features were most important, even in something as commonplace as a valve. This direct communication led to the inclusion of features that are of interest to each of our varied customer groups, from durable construction and a 200 psi rating to ease of inventory and a fair pricing structure.

As for making the good even better, our PS sprinkler has already been around for more than ten years and the extensive fine-tuning we have done to the product has resulted in an impressive upswing in acceptance by professionals.

All in all, we are pleasantly surprised by how much growth our company has experienced over the last several years. We had expected to see some good years, but the significant increases we have seen exceeded our forecasts.

As the industry gathers in our backyard for the annual Irrigation Association Expo here in beautiful San Diego, we at Hunter are proud of what we have already accomplished and the stature it has brought us within our industry. With the dedication that we are putting forth toward meeting our goal for the future, we hope that by the time the IA returns for its next Expo in our hometown we will be able to say that, indeed, we are the number one name in our industry.
