About Hunter: Hunter Testing Laboratory
A significant portion of Hunter’s resources is dedicated to new product development, along with continuous refinement of existing lines. Helping to achieve these high levels of innovation, reliability, and durability is one of the most advanced testing labs in the entire irrigation industry, located right within the company’s San Marcos complex. In 2004, the company added a new testing laboratory for the development and ongoing refinement of spray sprinkler nozzles. This facility includes a first-of-its-kind automated grid catchment system to measure spray uniformity. The lab operates 24 hours a day, measuring sprinkler rotation speed, adjustments, and operation at a wide range of pressures. Computers generate sprinkler distribution profiles for each product, and analyze the uniformity of the spray pattern, along with densograms that show how these sprinklers would perform in a specific design. Electronic products are tested for power surges, changing voltages, and extreme temperatures. Hunter nozzles are also tested continually to ensure reliability. Sprinkler products are also tested outdoors, using different types of soil from around the world to ensure that Hunter products will operate reliably in all geographic regions. Using more than 35 different types of soil from around the world, we work to ensure that Hunter products will operate reliably in all geographic regions. |
